Q: 2010 Ford focus question? All wheel drive?
Hey, I’m considering doing the cash for clunkers and getting a Ford focus. My only problem is i live in New England and the winters here aren’t friendly. Is it possible for me to get the Ford focus and get 4 wheel or all wheel drive installed? If not, does anyone know a car that’s good on fuel and has 4 wheel drive? thank you!

A: my brother is in the auto business so i asked him. he said:
“subaru is a good choice. That or the toyota rav4 or the honda CRV. Those are the best I can think of off the top of my head”

edit: “also some mitsubishi eclipses come with 4 wheel drive but the have a lot of power and may not be great for winter. I think suzukis have all wheel drive too.

Q: I am thinking about a 2010 Ford Focus? TEN POINTS BEST ANSWER.?
The model I would like is 2010 Ford Focus SE Coupe or an S. I am 16 years old this would be my first car. I was thinking about getting the manual transmission because they are cheaper. How much more would I be paying for automatic transmission? I like the two door. Is this a good car? How much would I be paying for this? Is it fast? Is it smooth? I don’t know much about cars. I just want to know if this would be a good car for me.

I will pick best answer. Thanks in advance.

Britt

A: I don’t know about the price, but they are a VERY safe car (5 STAR EURO NCAP) The manual gear box is about the best because the automatic is very jerky when changing gear. Insurance group is low on the SE Model. The two door is a good choice, stylish and pretty quick. 0-62 MPH in 10.2 seconds.
The 1.8 boast a measly 118 BHP.
this should be a brilliant car for you, especially if its your first car.

Q: I need knowledgeable advise/input concerning buying a 2009/2010 Ford Focus…?
My wife and I are planning buying a new Ford Focus. The EXACT car we want is a dark grey 2009/2010 Ford Focus SES sedan with 17″ wheels. Neither of us has ever bought a new car and I know there is some “wheeling & dealing” to be done. Here’s my question: with $2000 down + all the offers & rebates, is a $250/month payment for 72 months possible? Any experts on this subject or better yet, Ford salespeople please advise. Thanx!

A: You should be able to pull it off.

With all the offers and rebates ($1500 bonus cash plus the $1000 customer rebate that are both running until 6/30/09) the price for a fully loaded ‘09 Focus should be right around $17,400. ( I used www.carsdirect.com to get the pricing).

Even without putting anything down, paying 6% interest on that $17,400 car (+ tax and license) for 72 months would give you a payment of roughly $272/mo. Knock off the $2000 you’re putting down and assume 6% interest again and you’d be looking at about $242/mo for 72 months. Haggle them down at all and your payment would be a little lower still.

Q: Brand new 2010 Nissan sentra SR or new 2010 Ford focus?
in need of help of deciding between these two cars. i was able to go to ford and test drive the focus. it was pretty good. still need to test drive Nissan. i have narrowed down to these two company’s. reason why ford is because my dad found a deal on a focus for 18 or 19 grand brand new with power lock doors…like a standard car, but i hate ford!! Nissan seems like a good brand, so I’m deciding to go with a sentra, and plus it’s not that expensive. so yeah in need of help deciding to which car to get

-going to be my first car and my dad wants me to get a brand new one for the good.

A: Those are both good cars and you will probably like either one. I have a Focus and have never had a problem with it. Actually Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic are better cars and as a result have better resale value.

Q: 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback vs. 2010 Nissan Sentra SR vs. 2010 Ford Focus SES?
I’m planning to buy a new car and have it narrowed down to 3 possibilities and am looking for opinions to help narrow it down even further. I am looking to pick one by the end of this weekend. I am trying to keep my budget under 21k out the door.

Option #1 : Mazda 3 Hatchback. Dealer quoted me a price of $19,000 before tax/tag/dealer fees. This, at the moment atleast, is at the top of my list. It is also just within my budget (probably just under 21,000 out the door) and there isn’t much chance of lowering the price any further. Seems of the options to be the best in quality, safety, and reliability according to my research so far. I also like the looks of this car the best of all of them.

Option #2 : Nissan Sentra SR. I have a quote from a dealer of $18,300 out the door (they came down to 18,000 from the sticker plus 2,000 in rebates) for an SR with the Convenience Package (basically smartkey). I might consider dropping the Convenience Package to save another 1000+. Traction control and stability control are options that I’d have to add on for another $300 or so. Also the braking distance is worse then the Mazda. No roadside service under the warranty like the other two. Reliability and quality may be an issue here also, but there is also a $3,000+ difference in the price. The Mazda salesperson had basically nothing good to say about it and seemed shocked I was even comparing the two (although they are in the same price range and have most of the same options without rebates). The Ford salesperson didn’t seem to want to comment other then he thought it was a fine car.

Option #3 : Ford Focus SES (if the dealer near me gets one in soon). No dealer quote on this one yet since they didn’t have any in stock, but taking the price listed through Ford’s website plus $1,500 in rebates would put it in the same range as the Mazda 3 pricewise. This is the one I have the least information on at the moment, but seems like it’d be similar in quality and options to the Mazda.
There is also the option of a 2009 Dodge Charger SXT. They are offering huge rebates for the few remaining 2009’s and it’d make the car roughly 19,000-20,000 before tax/title/fees. But as far as reliability goes it may not be worth considering. Plus the only ones available are white, sandstone, or silver.

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: would a 15×6.5 rim fit on my 2010 ford focus s?
I just bought the ford focus 4 day ago. and I was looking at rims online for it, it said that the wheels that are on it has a Bolt Pattern: 4X108 and the will size: 15×6, but when I look for rims that will fit that bolt pattern I can’t find any 15×6, I can only find 15×6.5 would they fit on my focus? ’cause I really don’t want to have to buy new tires since these are brand new.

A: The extra 0.5 inches of bead width will not hurt anything and your existing tires will fit fine. The only critical thing to check is the wheel offset. If the offset is wrong then the tire may rub against the tierod ends or the ball joints.

Q: what do you think about the new 2010 ford car features?
What do you think about the new features,
Do you think its better, worse, ??????

DETROIT – So you think junior is a little too lead-footed when he drives the family car? Starting next year, Ford Motor Co. will give you the power to do something about it.

The company will roll out a new feature on many 2010 models that can limit teen drivers to 80 mph, using a computer chip in the key.

Parents also have the option of programming the teen’s key to limit the audio system’s volume, and to sound continuous alerts if the driver doesn’t wear a seat belt.

“Our message to parents is, hey, we are providing you some conditions to give your new drivers that may allow you to feel a little more comfortable in giving them the car more often,” said Jim Buczkowski, Ford’s director of electronic and electrical systems engineering.

The feature, called “MyKey,” will be standard on an unspecified number of Ford models when the 2010 cars and trucks come out late next summer. The feature will spread to the entire Ford, Lincoln and Mercury lineup as models are updated, spokesman Wes Sherwood said.

Ford arrived at the 80 mph limit even though freeway speed limits are lower in most states because it wanted to leave a margin in case an unusual situation arises, Buczkowski said. In some states, freeway speed limits are above 70 mph, Sherwood said.

“Just lopping it off at exactly 70 mph was felt to be too limiting,” Buczkowski said.

The company already uses computer chips in its keys to prevent thefts. The car won’t start unless it recognizes the chip in the key.

“It’s making use of existing technology, and through the magic of software, we’re able to build features on top of the features we already have,” Buczkowski said.

In addition to speed limits, MyKey also will limit the volume of the audio system, and it will sound a six-second chime every minute if seat belts are not fastened. The chime sounds for adult drivers, too, but ends after five minutes to avoid annoying adults who adamantly don’t want to wear seat belts, Buczkowski said.

Parents also have the option of having the car sound a chime if the teen exceeds 45, 55 or 65 mph.

The feature will debut on the 2010 Focus compact car and quickly move to other company models as a standard feature, the company said.

Ford said its market research shows 75 percent of parents like the speed and audio limits, but as you might expect, 67 percent of teens don’t like them.

Danisha Williams, a 16-year-old senior at Southfield-Lathrup High School in suburban Detroit, said she’s against the idea.

“I wouldn’t want my parents to have that much control over how I’m driving,” she said. “If your parents are holding your hand, you’re never going to learn.”

Brittany Hawthorne, 17, another Southfield-Lathrup senior, said there may be emergency situations where she’d have to drive more than 80, possibly to accelerate to avoid a crash.

Ford’s research shows that parents would be more likely to let teens use their vehicles with the system, Sherwood said, and if it gets them the car more often, the number of teens objecting drops by nearly half.

A top official from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a research group funded by the auto insurance industry that is pushing to raise the minimum driving age to 17 or 18, found the key intriguing and said she was not aware of any other manufacturer offering such a feature. IIHS says car crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers.

“Research we’ve done has shown that speeding is a major factor in teen crashes, especially novice teen drivers,” said Anne McCartt, the institute’s senior vice president for research. “So I think a system that tries to correct the speeding behavior has the potential to improve safety.”

More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16-year-old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Several U.S. auto insurers have begun offering in-car cameras or global positioning equipment to help parents monitor their teens’ driving behavior, in the hope of reducing the number of crashes.

A: I belive what Fords doing is great. And the features are very cool with a tunable speed limiter and audio limiter. thats a parents dream which might boost sales. All this besides the rest of the new AWSOME features like the aluminum ball shifter and new engines.o man the new stang will be great. But besides te new stang. Ford is starting to finally realize what will sell and improving safty is a GREAT start.

Q: 2009 Ford Focus SES or 2010 Toyota Corolla Ce?
I could get a fully loaded 09 Focus for the same price as a pretty bare boned Corolla. I’m having a hard time deciding…I know ppl think the world of toyota but reviews have shown that the focus is a good car too. I think the focus is nicer but the toyota might be true to it’s reputation. What would you guys do?

A: The 2009-2010 Ford Focus is a copy of the popular 2004-2009 Mazda 3, which proved to be better than the new 09 Toyota Corolla in a comparison test on www.edmunds.com/insideline in the videos section.

That is why the new Ford Focus has good reviews. Ford owns 20% of Mazda so they can use Mazda parts in their cars. The Ford Focus has the same suspension and similar handling and weight and and many other mechanical parts as the Mazda, making it a very reliable car.

According to the 2009 April Issue of Comsumer Reports magazine, Honda is the most reliable, with Subaru as 2nd and Toyota as third and Mazda was in 4th place.

So the Ford Focus, being a Mazda 3, is a great car.

You can’t go wrong with the Focus or Corolla.

Q: Where can i find cute floor mats and accessories for my new car?
Im buying a 2010 ford focus ses coupe and i get it in September! It’s going to have mostly all of the upgrades including the leather seats and the 5 piece body kit with the graphics. I want to get cute accessories for inside of it. I’ve looked at Walmart and Canadian Tire. Where else can i look? I need a bumper sticker too! I live in Canada BTW.

A: wal Mart!

Q: Ford focus warranty voiding?
what exactly will void the 2010 focus coupe’s warranty?
i want to put
cold air intake
cat-back exaust system
body mods like spoilers, hood scopes ect
also maybe in the future a turbo charger
what will and wont void the warrenty?

A: Depends on the dealer, but the turbo will void power train, body kit won’t, Never had an issue with cold air unless the compressions down then we don’t warranty them

Q: Has the public perception of Ford Motor Co. improved in the States?
I ask this, because I am a Ford truck man. Yet, Ford’s image has taken a hit, while the other two in the big three have taken bailout money, released lesser quality trucks, etc.

Ford didn’t take bailout money, and recent surveys said that increased positive opinion.

When the Cash For Clunkers program started, the 2009 & 2010 Ford Focus saw such a sales increase, Ford ramped up production. They are close to selling off the 2009 fleet, something they didn’t expect at all.

I feel like General Motors receives the most support of the general American, which baffles me. Even with its hiccups, a Navistar Super Duty diesel engine will outlast any Duramax, and the engine superiority will continue since Ford is dropping Navistar and developing its own Super Duty engine in-house.

Chevy is all about the interior, and even that is matched or surpassed in either build quality or materials.

Ford has improved its global image, as they have two particular models that are flagships: one is in South America that became the platform for the Focus redux and the other is a hit in Europe that might be given to Mazda and rebadged for the States for the 2012 production year. I don’t know, outside of Denalis and Escalades, of any GMs or Dodges being driven around the globe.

So, tell me, America..has it improved?

A: IMO Ford has improved over the last few years but is about ready to make one of the biggest F ups it can do by selling off volvo.

Ford used what it has learned from the Japanese and European markets to make a better domestic product, But is still dealing with where it wants to be compared to where it is now.

Ford’s ultimate goal is to have customer satisfaction on par with Toyota and Honda after it realized that they were going to have to change the game or die on the vine, hince Ford mortgaged the house in 2006 and bet everything on pulling out compared with GM and Chrysler who had to ask for handouts to survive, with GM being a very hated brand currently.

Actually many americans are buying Ford because we didn’t take the money, But Ford is dropping navistar due to loads of problems we’ve been having with them causing customer dissatisfaction and ultimately people going to the competition (but a lot of times returning in a few years when the truck they bought don’t pull like the Ford did)

It has improved, but not nowhere near out the woods yet IMO

Q: I’m getting the error “Bad Playlist” on the Ford Sync system?
Hi, I’m currently driving a 2010 ford focus… it is equipped with Sync…and i love using it whenever i’m driving. I always plug my ipod touch 2nd gen into the usb port…and it was working just fine up until i updated my ipod software to 4.0…First it says it’s “indexing” and then when it’s done, I’ll use the command “Play All” and it goes to play all… but then on the screen, it says the error, “Bad Playlist” and wont play any music …Can anyone help me with this? Is/has anyone else experienced/experiencing this problem? and if you have, then how can I get my music to play like it did before? I don’t think it’s the car’s Sync that has the problem… I have a feeling its something with my ipod…and I’m not sure what….. Help????
@bliss thanks but what you sent me was for “bad media”… I need to know about the “bad playlist” error.

A: I found these pages and it sounds like anything above 3.1 for the I-touch, I-Pod, etc or I-phone 4.0 has troubles working with SYNC. If you can reinstall the old software version it might be your best bet. You might look and see what format your songs are, if they are a I-Tunes format you might try converting them to MP3 format, no guarantee that will even work. I was using I-Tunes and just didn’t like the I-Tunes program. A friend told me about J River Media Center, I like it a lot better. I used Media Center to convert my songs, it took 18 hours to convert 8,000 songs from AAC format to MP3 format. I have never updated my I-pod software, never thought about it, I guess I’m one of the lucky ones, mine still works.
I-Tunes is Apple, SYNC is Microsoft, It’s no excuse but SYNC was designed in 2007/2008 so it was designed with the older Apple software version, Good Luck.

***Buy a USB flash drive ($5 to $50) depending on size, copy songs to drive and your troubles will be over. It’s not right you have to do it that way, but it will work.

Q: Can I Install A Navigation System In My Car?
Hi, I recently bought a 2010 Ford Focus SES and I was wondering if it is possible to install a ***In-dash*** navigation system in my car that will fully work. I have family and friends that are all spread out through the U.S. and i want to visit them. So tell if yes tell me what manufactor should I buy the navi from and were to can I install it. Thank You.

A: Ok, Metra makes a replacement dash kit for the 08-09 ford focus. After comparing the pictures of the 2010 model, it looks like it will work fine. I would call Metra and see if their is any problems with the 2010 model. The kit has an option for a “double-din” unit that is great for indash navigation systems. The price ranges online from $35.00 to $90.00, just make sure its a new unit, you will also need a wire harness and antenna adapter. I think that the 2010 comes with ford SYNC, if it does, you will loose that feature. If you have steering wheel controls you may need to buy an adapter to keep them.
As for a brand, that is up to you. I like Alpine, Kenwood and Pioneer units. Their is a link for an Alpine unit that I want, but you do need to buy a navigation module, Bluetooth, Sat Radio or what ever you need. Also try calling crutchfield they can help you with finding the best unit that has the options that you want.
As for someone to install it. Any MECP installer should be good. Just check labor waranties. And if you are going to be traviling alot, I would check Best Buy because they are nation wide if you have any problems. Just save your recept because sometimes they wont help you if you dont have it.
Hope this helps?

Q: What’s more expensive?
2 door 2010 ford focus, or 4 door 2010 ford focus

A: 4 doors are more expensive as they are better to use.

Q: I want to get a car Tell me how much i need to make?
Im turning 16 on March 8 2011 I have to work to get my own car I want a used Ford Focus S 2010 how much would a used car cost me? From a dealership itself or a person? Also ill be leasing it for 60 months. I get $25 bucks in my account every month. By The time I reach The month of May ill be working at starbucks $9.50 an hour maybe minimum wage with tips. Ill work their for the end of may, june, july and first few weeks of august. By the beggening of june ill have around $ 650.09-675.09 almost 700 dollers. Plus the money ill be making. How much will i still need to make to get a ford car for at least 11,000$- $12,000 and ill also be adding babysitting money thats 25$ this august for 2 weeks in and selling things to goodwill and adding that end of the month money as well. Just an estimate. Or would i have already reached enough money by then to buy the car? My parents will help with monthly payments.

http://bp2.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/2010-Ford-Focus#page=/Exterior/

A: You won’t be leasing a car through a person, You also won’t be able to legally lease anything until you’re 18 years old. Buying a new car especially when your finances are tight is foolish. A better plan would be to save up a few grand and buy a used car outright in cash. Foci has pretty dramatic deprecation, you can probably get on that’s about 3 or 4 years old for around $6-$7k.

If you’re at the point where you’re selling stuff to goodwill and counting on babysitting money to pay for the car, you’ve overextended yourself. Of course should all of this go according to plan (realistically it won’t) at the end of the lease and you turn the car back in, what do you have to show for all the hours at Starbucks, the babysitting, and the selling of your stuff to goodwill? Absolutely nothing.
