I drove it ALL the way from Buffalo, NY to Niagara Falls..Pull it into my driveway, turn it off, go inside, go back outside and attempt to start it..
and all I hear is ‘click-click’. The radio turns on, then shuts off, so does the air. But it WON’T start up completely, and the ‘click-click’ noise is atrotiously obnoxious. :/ Any clue?
A: Raise the hood stand in front of the car look on the left side you will see Little thing called a celluloid switch ,take the red battery cable loose go down to your local part,s store get you a new switch two bolt,s hold it on 15 minutes you should be running.

So my husband is trying to help a friend replace a 2001 Ford Focus engine, but the problem is that for the life of them they can’t get the original engine out because it’s stuck. They go to lift it out and they end up lifting up the entire car! Any tips?
A: tell them to check and make sure all the mount bolts are loose and out of the way,and all th linkage is out of the way,you have to lean those to get them out,i have did a few before and their no fun at all to get out,the front of the engine has to come up first,good luck.
Q: Why is my Ford Focus having trouble with acceleration?
I own a 2000 Ford Focus and sometimes it squeals during accelaration, followed by jerking, as if it’s not getting enough fuel. I’ve replaced the EGR valve, catalytic converter and O2 sensors. The air filter, spark plugs and wires have been replaced and so has the PCV valve. The check engine light remains on even after it’s been turned off. Should i replace the fuel injectors and filter?

It was actually determined that the Ford Focus has so many problems it shouldn’t even be on the road!! They are junk!!!

It’s a 2002 ford focus. I replaced the cooling fan resistor but it looks like the part that plugs into it is shot.
A: Wiring pigtail connector. This is a common problem with these vehicles. Hope this helps.

Q: Where can I get fuel line retaining clips for a 2005 Ford Focus?
I damaged one of the stock clips while changing the fuel filter on my girlfriend’s car. I thought “no problem” the new filter usually comes with new ones, but the replacement clips do not fit. I need these specific clips because they are shorter and skinnier than the replacement clips. I’ve even tried getting some smaller clips, but they do not work. Also, none of the autopart stores nearby carry clips that are remotely similar to these.
Is this a common problem with the focus? Will a ford dealer be able to accomodate me?
A: Yes, the only place to get these is at a Ford dealership and I am sure they have them in stock.
Q: How do you disable car horn beep when locking 2007 ford focus?
My sister has a 2007 ford focus with keyless entry. When she locks her car with the remote the hazards flash and the horn beeps once. The horn is VERY loud and echos. I have tried googling some info, looking through the manual and calling the ford dealership (which is automated today since it’s Sunday)

A: Sometimes you can arm it silently by pressing the buttons on the fob in a certain order, but this may only work with certain alarms. I had one where I could arm it silently if I pressed the aux button then the lock button. Actually the alarm I just had put in my Contour is like that, but is an after market Python system.

I just recently bought a spectre cold air intake for like a 100 bucks from oreillys and I’m wondering how much increase in horsepower and mpgs in my ford focus? Right now stock it’s putting out about 130hp and 33mpg.
A: got the same car as you but more air means more spark more fuel but you wont notice it at all,sorry but if you want it to go, get a power chip in it 25% increase in power..

I have a 2006 Ford Focus Zx4 and i have not done anything to it yet, i dont know much about cars either (hence why i am asking in the first place). Is there a part(s) that wouldn’t be too expensive to install and buy that would make it more powerful and or faster?
A: Check out Steeda.com to find performance parts for the Focus. You won’t have to worry about insurance with performance mods. If you want the mods themselves insured you will have to declare them, but if you are ok without your mods being insured then the insurance company will only cover the car itself. If you get into an accident your mods will be lost without reimbursement.
Look for parts that are “bolt on” which means they don’t require any modifications to install, and can usually be done by you at home. Usually, people start with a couple of different mods to add some easy bolt on power … they include: cold air intake, flash tuner (sct, diablo, etc) with a good tune, high end spark plugs and wires, and upgraded exhaust. These mods should be good for at least 30-40hp at the rear wheels. Worry about turbos and superchargers later.
Find yourself a really good Focus message forum, and start reading, and asking questions. They’ll hook you up, and you have the benefit of other people’s experience with your specific car.

I want to add speakers and put them all in my trunk and wire them to the rear speekers but i cant figure out how to remove the pannels to the door so that i can get to the speeaker so that i can wire them all up. I have 4 10’s and 2 12’s. Help so my 2001 ford focus can start to be pimped/
A: first off see if your radio has outputs for subwoofers on the back if not you need to buy a scosche output converter (recommended buy at wal-mart $10-$15) this piece you need to place in the dash dont put everything back together yet run your a/v coaxial away from any power wires or you`ll get a buzzing noise run your amp wires the way you sound you want some thump back there and your gonna need alot of juice at times while your at wal mart buy there power cap it comes with all your wiring you need for a 1500 watt system i have one in my car my head lights don`t even dim even with the ac on high and my radiator fans on it works well and make sure you put every hot wire on a fuse at the source your pulling off of!!!! it will save you a bad experience ask my G.F. LOL i put a remote hot wire on the wrong side of an ignition fuse (it was an accident i did use a test light but still hooked it up wrong) do all these things and you`ll beset up ready to jam (and you won`t have to keep buying alternator’s and batteries)

I have a 2003 Ford Focus and think the cup holders are absolutely ridiculous. Who would design something so assinign? Everytime I turn a corner the cup and (sometimes hot) liqiud flies all over the place! Come on people, this is the age of the i phone for christ’s sake!!!! What in the world were they thinking??? Just venting, but I know that someone else surely has the same problem, just wanted conformation that I was not the only one!

I just bought a 2002 Ford Focus and the engine is all dirty. I am thinking of pressure washing it when the engine is cold. Is this a good idea?
Also, my engine hesitates when it is not warmed up. What should I do? I plan to change the spark plugs, change the air filter, add fuel injector cleaner to the gas, and maybe change the fuel filter. Will this solve my problem?
Also, my automatic transmission slips when I am between gears. For example, first gear works fine, but it slips before going into second gear (I can press on the gas, and the transmission doesn’t engage right away- the engine just revs up). Is this an electrical problem?
A: Why would you buy a vehicle with all of these problems without buying an extended warranty????? To clean the engine, You need to buy an engine cleaner at a parts store. Just make sure the vehicle is running when you spray it down with water!

I know there is a way to reset the car’s computer funtions using a series of buttons on the dashboard, I’m just ot sure how to do it on a 2001 Ford Focus.
A: That little light is the only way that the car’s computer (PCM) can communicate with you. It doesn’t talk, so it comes on to tell you that the PCM has detected a fault or failure in one of the systems or circuits that it monitors.
The SMART thing to do is to retrieve the codes (DTCs) to determine why it is on in the first place. It could be something as simple as a loose fuel cap, or it could be an indication that you have serious trouble headed your way.
Retrieve the DTCs, and with a repair manual follow the proper diagnostic and repair procedures.
REMEMBER——->The code(s) indicate a fault in a circuit or system, and NOT NECESSARILY a specific component. Follow good diagnostic practices to avoid wasted money, effort and time.

I have a rental Ford Focus and I can’t go over 65 mph without the car beeping at me that it’s reached top speed and the speed limit on the interstate is 75! Please help me ASAP on how to reprogram the MyKey features.
A: I hope the rental company gave you more than one key.
If they gave you only one key.. and the one key is a programed “MyKey” you will not be able to change the settings. Period.
The settings can only be altered or disabled when the vehicle has been started with an “Administrator key”

MYKEY™ (IF EQUIPPED)
The MyKey™ feature allows you to program a restricted driving mode to
promote good driving habits. All but one of the keys programmed to the
vehicle can be activated as a MyKey™. The key will remain restricted
until MyKey™ is disabled. Any remaining keys are referred to as an
“administrator key” or admin key. The admin key can be used to create a
MyKey™, program optional MyKey™ settings, and disable the MyKey™
feature. When the MyKey™ feature is enabled the user can use system
check in the message center to see how many MyKeys™ and admin keys
are programmed to the vehicle, and how many total miles have been
driven with the MyKey™ active.
Programming MyKey™ optional settings
Turn the ignition on using an admin key. To program the optional
settings, use the message center buttons to do the following:
1. Press SETUP until RESET FOR MYKEY SETTINGS is displayed.
2. Press and release the RESET button to display MyKey™ setup menus.
The first menu shown is:
MYKEY MAX MPH <80 MPH> OFF
3. If you don’t want to change the maximum speed setting, press the
SETUP button to display the next menu. The remaining menus appear as
follows with the default settings shown:
MYKEY MPH TONES 45 55 65
MYKEY VOLUME LIMIT
MYKEY ADVTRAC CTRL ON
4. On any of the menus press RESET to highlight your choice with the
<…>.
5. Press SETUP to enter your choice. The next optional setting will be
displayed.
6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 until you are done changing the optional
settings.
Disable MyKey™
To reset all MyKeys™ as admin keys do the following:
1. Turn the vehicle on using the admin key.
2. Press SETUP until PRESS RESET TO CLEAR MYKEY is displayed.
3. Press and release the RESET button. HOLD RESET TO CONFIRM
CLEAR is displayed.
4. Press and hold the RESET button for two seconds until ALL MYKEYS
CLEARED is displayed.

You could also disable the MyKey features alltogether, but that too would require an AdminKey
The rental companies would want the MYKey settings to remain in place so they can see how many miles were driven and also so that they can ensure safe driving practices in the vehicles that they own. But if the speed limit is over the setting.. then they really should have let you know that and/or reset the limit to accommodate your intended driving.
